Carmine's Italian Restaurant

Food and service were really good! Note that the portions are quite big so be prepared for that. Two things I didn't like: Getting a table there wasn't a comfortable procedure - I didn't really understand who to talk to, where I should wait or what is the logic in general. Another thing that was somewhat disturbing to me is that the atmosphere was a little fake; the place keeps the aesthetics of the old school restaurant although it's no longer owned by the original family, which is on the one hand appreciated but on the other makes the framed pictures and design feel weird. Anyway worth a visit!

I finally got the chance to visit this restaurant and was so excited. When I arrived I was lucky to find street parking. When I walked in, I was greeted and was guided upstairs to the ballroom for the group dinner. The place was packed and I loved it. I got the chance to endulge in a variety of pastas, chicken, and seafood. Along with wine and other cocktails! It was such a wonderful time, and I can't wait to return.

Of course when you’re in NYC you need to complete your trip with a visit to Carmines. The food is always very good. They seem to have a full staff so even though the place is large and usually packed the pace of the meal is appropriate. Depending on the size of your appetite you will have leftovers since everything is family style portions. Favorite items are the Carmine Salad, Spicy Scarpariello Wings, Chicken Marsala. We also enjoy the rigatoni with broccoli and sausage. Haven’t had room for dessert on our recent visits but in the past always love the cheesecake! Vegetarian options: Appetizers, salads and pasta with vegetarian options. Kid-friendliness: Definitely family friendly between the atmosphere and the food. There is something for everyone on the menu.
