Ken's Hickory Pit Barbecue

Their breakfast is a great deal and very very good. Popular with the locals. It's the quintessential friendly roadside southern barbecue joint. The sauce doesn't hit hard to me. It isn't sweet. But it isn't Carolina. It's....Ken's. And it has grown on me since i started stopping in ever so often. The meat quality is good and they prepare it well. Above all else, they're super friendly and treat you like you're somebody.

You cannot order takeout from them over the phone anymore. If you call the automated system will send you a text message to order on their website. Normally that would be ok but the website is glitched and automatically selects options such as onions rings for an extra charge and will not allow you to unselect them. Lunch should not be this complicated.

People seem to really like this place, I think k the breakfast is much better than the lunch.
